Community Service Opportunities

LifeSmarts offers High School participants numerous opportunities to give back in their communities: Students can use Disney’s The Lion King to educate elementary school students; teach older Americans to avoid becoming victims of fraud; and educate middle school students about over-the-counter medicine safety.

LifeSmarts partners with UL’s XPLORLABS

Demonstrate leadership in your community, mentor younger students, and teach important life lessons using LifeSmarts and XPLORLABS lessons.

OTC Medicine Safety Mentoring Project

The OTC Medicine Safety Mentoring Project is designed with LifeSmarts students in mind, and based on educational materials produced by Scholastic and the American Association of Poison Control Centers. The project promotes safe medicine storage, safe use of OTC medicine, and understanding the Drug Facts label. High school students demonstrate leadership by teaching 5th and 6th graders about medicine safety. The lesson is easy to adapt to classroom, club, and community settings.

LifeSmarts partners with Western Union to educate older Americans about fraud

We have partnered with Western Union to send LifeSmarts teams out to older audiences to educate them about fraud. The hard-earned dollars lost to fraud is staggering, and often those who are not technologically savvy are the most likely targets. This pilot project is open to all high school students during the 2019-2020 program year.
