Welcome to Virginia LifeSmarts! a free, national consumer literacy program that gives young people the 21st Century skills they need to become successful adults. LifeSmarts offers curriculum for teachers, and exciting scholarship opportunities for students.
Varsity Teams are made up of students in grades 9-12. All students are eligible to compete in LifeSmarts Varsity competitions including those in our partner organizations (4-H, BPA, FBLA, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, and TSA). The State Champion Varsity team earns the opportunity to compete in the National LifeSmarts Championship, April 18-21, 2024 in San Diego, CA.
FBLA and FCCLA Chapters have their own special LifeSmarts competitions that lead to competition at their National Leadership Conferences but are also eligible to compete in our state varsity and junior varsity level competitions. Students are eligible to be on one state varsity or junior varsity team and also on up to two other organizations teams. Team coaches should download the specific group instructions from the Coaches Page.
BPA, SkillsUSA and 4-H also have their own special LifeSmarts Challenges, but also may compete in our Varsity LifeSmarts competitions to advance to the Varsity National LifeSmarts Championship.
Junior Varsity teams may compete to qualify for the Virtual National LifeSmarts Junior Varsity Championship May 9-10, 2024.
The online competition continues through January 2024. Coaches it is not too late to register and create a team. Use the resources to practice and prepare for the online quizzes. Top scoring teams will receive an invitation to the state competition February 16, 2024 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
Junior Varsity Competition for grades 6-8 is open through April 1, 2024. The top-scoring Junior Varsity team in our state will be invited to compete in the Virtual National Junior Varsity LifeSmarts Championship, May 9-10, 2024.
