Welcome to North Dakota LifeSmarts Competition!

IMPORTANT DATES

High School (Grades 9-12)

Online Qualifying Competition

November 1st – January 21, 2026

State Competition

When: Thursday, February 5, 2026
Where: North Dakota State Capital Building, Brynhild Haugland Room
Who: Scores will be tabulated, and the highest scoring teams will be invited to the State Competition.

The winning team at the State Competition will represent North Dakota at the National Competition in Orlando, Florida!

Middle School Competition (Grades 6-8)

Online Competition Only

If there is interest, students in grades 6-8 will compete only online. The State winners will be announced online after the competition closes.
The first place state winning Junior Varsity team will be invited to compete in the NEW Virtual Junior Varsity National LifeSmarts Championship.

Details will be provided to the winning team.

WHAT IS LIFESMARTS

The LifeSmarts program gives students the opportunity to learn consumer information that they can use now and for the rest of their lives. “Learn it. Live it.” Educating teens for the real world!

LifeSmarts, the Ultimate Consumer Challenge, is a FREE consumer education competition open to teens in grades 6-12.

The competition tests students on their knowledge of:

Personal
Finance
Health and Safety
Environment
Technology and Workforce Preparation
Consumer Rights and Responsibilities

Educators: Please give your students the opportunity to enhance their consumer knowledge that they can use now and in the future.

Students: Take a practice quiz and see if you’re ready for the ultimate consumer challenge. Talk with your friends and form a team. Each team needs an adult sponsor or coach.

Schools may enter more than one coach, and coaches may enter more than one team, but only two teams from a school may qualify for the state competition.
