Welcome to LifeSmarts! Here you’ll learn about consumer issues that impact your everyday life – everything from managing your finances, making smart consumer choices, understanding technology, staying healthy, and helping the environment – all with the goal of putting you in charge. Coaches are invited to register and create teams, and students may register, join a team and compete online. We hope that you’ll check out the resources you find here, test your knowledge with practice quizzes, use TeamSmarts and LifeSmarts U, and compete online.
District of Columbia LifeSmarts is run through a partnership with the National Consumers League. Participation in LifeSmarts is open to any group of four or five students from grades 6-12 with an adult coach.

Varsity – High School Dates (Grades 9-12):
Online competition opens December 1, 2025
Teams must complete their online qualification by January 23, 2026.
State in-person competition date is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2026.
The winning team will represent the District of Columbia at the National LifeSmarts Championship held in Orlando, April 15-18, 2025.

Junior Varsity Dates (Grades 6-8)
Junior Varsity Competition closes on Jan. 23, 2026. The top-scoring Junior Varsity team in the District of Columbia will receive an invitation to compete in the NEW virtual National LifeSmarts Junior Varsity Championship on May 6 and 7 2026.
