California

Congratulations to our 2023 LifeSmarts State Champion team - Da'Bruins from Branham High School ! Way to go CA!

Welcome to the California State LifeSmarts!

LifeSmarts is a fun and educational competition that teaches middle and high school students the knowledge they need to be successful in today’s marketplace. The program focuses on five key topic areas: consumer rights and responsibilities, technology, health and safety, personal finance and the environment. It prepares them for the real-world, helping them to become consumer savvy adults.

Students take quizzes online to compete in the program and test their knowledge. To qualify for the team competition, each student must complete the competition quizzes in all five areas. The teams with the highest scores in the competition quizzes compete in an online championship competition. The winner of the state championship advances to the national championship hosted by the National Consumers League. The online program is free for students and coaches.

Public, private, charter and alternative schools are welcome to register as well as youth leadership organizations like 4-H, career and technical organizations, faith-based youth groups, library and foster youth teen clubs, home school groups and others. All are welcome! Each team must have an adult coach. Coaches must register their teams on the LifeSmarts website.

Online competition: Open from September 2023 - February 1, 2024. Teams eligible for the online California championship competition will be notified via email and the state championship quiz will be open February 2 - 9, 2024.
