OTC Medicine Safety Individual Student Scholarships

The OTC Medicine Safety Individual Student Scholarship is not a team project. An individual student creates an individual project or serves as the leader for a project that follows these guidelines. (NOTE: This should not be the team video or any required team competition, but an additional individual project or presentation(s). Applicants are encouraged to be creative.  Applicants should complete the scholarship application below.

After reviewing the LifeSmarts U Lessons on Drug Facts Label and Medicine 101,  the YMI Over-the-Counter Medicine Safety materials, and the LifeSmarts OTC resources, design a social media message, presentation, informative video (must be different than team competition entry), game, podcast, infomercial, news broadcast, webpage, educational social media page, PSA, Table Tents, Placemats, table-top display, door hanger, poster, or another educational product that will communicate the importance of OTC safety to others.  Your project can review general safety information or have a detailed focus on one aspect of OTC medicine safety that others should know! Be creative!

Implement and evaluate your project as much as possible prior to the scholarship deadline and/or list what you might do differently next time and other audiences you plan to share the presentation with in the future.

Project background:

LifeSmarts partners with Kenvue to educate consumers about the safe use of over-the-counter medicines. Winning entries may be published on the LifeSmarts site and shared with Kenvue, the scholarship sponsor. 

 

OTC Medicine Safety Mentoring Scholarship Application 2026

  • Accepted file types: doc, jpg, gif, tif, html, ppt, pdf, txt, pptx.
    This is not a team project and should be very different from any OTC project or presentation that your team develops. Be creative! Ideas include, but are not limited to, designing and sharing an original educational presentation; informative video or infomercial; educational game; podcast; news broadcast; radio spot, Educational social media page or campaign; PSA; Table tent or table top display, webpage or game, door hanger, poster, or any other educational product that will communicate the importance of OTC safety to others. Your project can review general safety information or have a detailed focus on one aspect of OTC medicine safety that others should know!
  • If any file(s) cannot be uploaded through this application, you may upload them to a shared file service (for example, Google Docs). Please list the links here to any shared files, including a description before each link. Make sure you test the links to be certain our judges can access the file. (for example, "Photo - http://lifesmarts.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/IMG_1141.jpg"). Make sure the file's share settings are set so that anyone may view and also so that the file may be downloaded. Separate each link with a semicolon.
