Welcome to LifeSmarts! Here youth will learn about consumer issues that impact their everyday life – everything from managing finances, making smart consumer choices, understanding technology, staying healthy, and helping the environment – all aimed at putting knowledge into action!

All public, private, and charter school students, homeschoolers, and members of 4-H and other youth organizations are invited to participate in this program. To participate, all coaches and youth players must sign up through the LifeSmarts website.

Coaches and students are invited to register beginning August 1, 2024, and create teams of Junior Varsity (6th-8th grades) or Varsity (9th-12th grades) teams. Once registered, coaches and youth can check out the wealth of resources on the LifeSmarts website, and youth can begin to challenge their knowledge with the online practice quizzes.  Coaches are also encouraged to contact their local UF/IFAS Extension Office for consumer education resources and educational opportunities to assist youth in preparing for this competition.

Varsity teams will need to complete the required five category (Personal Finance, Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Technology, Health & Safety, Environment) and capstone quizzes to be considered for the state competition. The top scoring Varsity teams will be invited to take part in the ONLINE state competition. Qualifying quizzes will be available December 1, 2024, and must be completed by January 19, 2025, for teams to be considered for the state competition, which will be held between January 27, 2025, and January 31, 2025.

The Varsity team winning the state championship will be eligible to advance to the National LifeSmarts Championship, held in Chicago, Illinois, April 24-27, 2025.
