National LifeSmarts Championship 2020: Washington, DC

We are deeply saddened to have to make this announcement, but — due to growing public health concerns and travel restrictions due to COVID-19 — the National Consumers League has been forced to cancel the 2020 National LifeSmarts Championship that was scheduled for late April, 2020.

Coaches and teams who qualified to compete are in the process of providing input for our next steps. Currently, we are still unsure as to what those next steps will be or will look like.  The LifeSmarts team will provide updates as soon as possible.  Thank you for your support!

Volunteers are needed to serve as Question Masters, judges, timekeepers, scorekeepers, and more. Volunteers are professional experts in one or more of the LifeSmarts topics which include: personal finance, consumer rights, technology, the environment, and health and safety. Volunteers are needed Sunday, April 26, and Monday, April 27, 2020.

The best and brightest state champion teams and wild card teams are invited to compete over four days at Nationals. Teams compete in buzzer matches, Speed Smarts, take individual assessments, and complete other team challenges. Click here to visit the teams 2020 page.

LifeSmarts welcomes sponsors to support the program in the following ways:

  • Fund: Underwrite post-secondary scholarships to honor students’ high achievement.
  • Provide: Donate 325 “swag” items to fill goody bags distributed to all participants.
  • Sponsor: Help students by sponsoring a meal, activity, or portions of the competition itself.
