FCCLA chapters are invited to compete in the standard LifeSmarts program. There are three opportunities to get involved:
- Compete online with the opportunity to advance to live state and national competitions.
- Represent FCCLA at the National LifeSmarts Championship in April.
- Compete in TeamSmarts to vie for monthly Chapter Awards.

Compete at the State Level
FCCLA chapters may form Varsity LifeSmarts teams of 4-5 students to compete online and in-person through their state Varsity LifeSmarts program. If your chapter wins at the state level you will be invited to represent the state at the National LifeSmarts Championship. Wild Card Bid to represent FCCLA at the National LifeSmarts Championship
At least one FCCLA team will be invited to represent FCCLA at the National LifeSmarts Championship. Interested FCCLA teams of 4-5 students, working with an adult adviser or coach, must complete the Wild Card application process. The winning team will receive at least $1,000 in travel stipend to attend and compete in the National LifeSmarts Championship in April. You will compete at least eight times against teams from across the country.
LifeSmarts FCCLA LifeSmarts TeamSmarts Chapter Awards
From September through February your team may compete against other FCCLA chapters in the monthly TeamSmarts quiz. Each month the top-scoring FCCLA team will receive a $100 cash prize. Click here to learn more about TeamSmarts.
- Teams are eligible to win one (1) Chapter Award per program year.
- To compete for the monthly Chapter Award, coaches must select “FCCLA” for their team type.
