Varsity LifeSmarts Provides Opportunities for High School Students

Compete at the State Level

Students in grades 9-12 compete in the Varsity LifeSmarts program. Teams of 4-5 students start by competing online, then advance to their state LifeSmarts competition. State champion teams are invited to represent the state at the National LifeSmarts Championship. Click here for state dates and more information about your state program.

Monthly TeamSmarts Awards

From September through February your team may compete against other Varsity teams in the monthly TeamSmarts quiz. Each month the top-scoring Varsity team will receive a $100 cash prize. Click here to learn more about TeamSmarts.

  • Teams are eligible to win one (1) TeamSmarts Award per program year.
  • To compete for the monthly prize, coaches must select “Varsity” as their team type. (Additional prizes are available for BPA, FBLA, FCCLA, 4-H, SkillsUSA, and Junior Varsity teams.)

Wild Card Path to the National LifeSmarts Championship

Varsity teams that do not win their state championship may submit a Wild Card bid to compete at the National LifeSmarts Championship. Interested teams of 4-5 students, working with an adult adviser or coach, must complete the Wild Card process, which includes a team project and a special TeamSmarts quiz. The winning teams will receive travel stipend funds to attend the National LifeSmarts Championship in April.
