Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem Spirit of LifeSmarts Award
North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, who passed away in office January 28, 2022, believed in the spirit of competition and the fun to be had in learning through educational events such as LifeSmarts. Throughout his 20-year career as Attorney General, his office has sponsored the North Dakota LifeSmarts program, with his enthusiastic endorsement. Stenehjem was a trivia expert and enjoyed word games and the game show Jeopardy. He enjoyed serving as Question Master and interacting with the students and educators who competed in LifeSmarts at the state level. Accomplishments as Attorney General include protecting consumers from telemarketing and identity theft, as well as drug enforcement, drug take-back initiatives, and other public safety measures.
LifeSmarts and the National Consumers League wish to honor his memory by recognizing a team that embodies the spirit of LifeSmarts. State Coordinators may nominate a team that exemplifies the educational growth, competitiveness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun gained through LifeSmarts. The winning team will be recognized during the Awards Ceremony at the 28th National LifeSmarts Championship, April 24, 2022.

The winning team will receive a $100 gift card, and must be competing in the 2022 National LifeSmarts Championship to win. Applications will be judged by LifeSmarts staff. Nominations are due April 12, 2022.
